Representation tax waived for business lunches and pálinka

In an attempt to give a boost to the Hungarian hospitality industry, business meals at restaurants are not subject to representation tax starting from February 2026. At the same time, pálinka, a typical Hungarian fruit spirit can also be given freely as a business gift. These measures are supposed to also benefit businesses that often do business meetings over meals and like to present Hungarian-typical gifts to their partners.
