Maternity leave for your Hungarian employees

Maternity leave is a form of unpaid leave in Hungary during which mothers can apply for allowances from the state. New mothers can spend at least 6 weeks with their babies, during which you cannot terminate their employment relationship. This is true even for third-country national employees, and it is not supposed to affect existing work permits either.

You and your partner can get married in Hungary if both of you are legally competent adults (above 18). You will need a civil ceremony with a representative of the registrar’s office as the officiant; having a religious ceremony is optional. The process is more or less the same for Hungarian and foreign couples, although it takes longer for foreigners because they will need additional documents to prove there are no legal obstacles to the marriage.
