Hungarian universities for international students
Hungarian universities are very popular among international students: they offer quality education for tuition fees that are cheap compared to most of Western Europe. In addition, the cost of living in Budapest, especially renting an apartment, is also much lower.
To meet this demand, many local universities offer English-language courses within student exchange frameworks like Erasmus, and several Hungarian universities offer courses or whole degree programmes in foreign languages, mainly English and German.
Universities with foreign-language degrees
Semmelweis University, also referred to as SOTE, is the oldest and most famous medical university in Hungary, offering full English- and German-language programs in Medicine, Dentistry and Pharmacy. The degrees are accepted without further accreditation procedures within the EU, and the university also offers preparatory courses for licensing examinations in the USA and Canada.
The University of Veterinary Medicine is the only veterinary university in Hungary. It offers the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.),a BSc in Biology and a PhD program in veterinary sciences, the full program offered in English, with the pre-clinical sections also in German. There are currently about 650 international students enrolled here; the programs are especially popular with Norwegian and Swedish natives.
English-speaking universities
There are also some international universities in Budapest. The best known one is the Central European University founded by George Soros. Their Master’s and PhD degree programs focus on Social Sciences, Cognitive Science, History and Law, with special attention to minority rights.
The International Busines School offers English-language Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in management, finance and diplomacy. The classes in their Master’s programs are scheduled so that they can be attended even by students having a full-time job. They also offer two conversion programs, International Management and Human Resource Management, which you can enroll in with any kind of Bachelor’s degree if you are contemplating a career change.
Please note: Helpers no longer provides stand-alone student visa application assistance. If you need help, contact your university for guidance, since many universities offer information at their admission offices.
