Welcome to the new Hungarian Citizenship Newsletter
At Helpers, we’ve always believed that obtaining Hungarian citizenship is about much more than paperwork. For many people, it’s the beginning of a journey – a chance to reconnect with their family’s story, explore their Hungarian heritage, and discover the country their ancestors once called home.
Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of helping clients navigate the Hungarian citizenship process. Along the way, we’ve also had countless conversations about genealogy, family history, Hungarian traditions, and even the language itself. In the course of this, one thing became clear: our community wants to learn more.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce the new Helpers Newsletter.
Starting this August, you’ll receive a themed newsletter every two weeks, bringing you stories, practical tips, and fascinating insights into Hungary’s history, genealogy, and language. Whether you’re researching your family roots, considering Hungarian citizenship, or simply curious about Hungary, our goal is to create content that informs, inspires, and helps you feel more connected to your heritage.
More than citizenship
While Hungarian citizenship will always remain at the heart of what we do, we wanted to create a newsletter that goes beyond the application process.
Hungary has a remarkable history spanning more than a thousand years. Millions of people around the world have Hungarian ancestors, each with a unique family story waiting to be uncovered. The Hungarian language is one of Europe’s most fascinating languages, and even learning a few words can help people feel closer to their heritage.
We believe these stories deserve a place alongside practical citizenship guidance. Our newsletter is designed to be a resource for anyone interested in Hungary – not only those who are currently applying for citizenship.
What you can expect
Every letter will focus on one of three main themes, allowing us to explore each topic in greater depth while keeping every newsletter fresh and engaging.
Hungarian history
Hungary’s past is rich with remarkable people, important events, and traditions that continue to shape the country today. In our newsletter, we will explore topics such as national holidays, historical milestones, famous Hungarians, medieval kingdoms, the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy, and the stories behind the places your ancestors may have once called home. Whether you are already familiar with Hungarian history or just beginning your journey, we hope these articles will help you better understand the country’s unique place in Europe.
Genealogy and family history
For many readers, genealogy is where the journey begins. Tracing your Hungarian ancestors can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when records span different countries, languages, and historical borders.
Our genealogy-focused editions will offer practical guidance to help you better understand historical records, family documents, and research methods. We will share tips on finding birth, marriage, and death records, explain how historical events affected family histories, and introduce useful resources that can support your own research. Every family has a story, and we’re excited to help you uncover yours.
Learn Hungarian
Hungarian has a reputation for being one of Europe’s most unique languages – but don’t let that intimidate you. Rather than offering traditional language lessons, we will introduce simple words and everyday expressions that help you become familiar with the language in an enjoyable and approachable way. You’ll discover useful greetings, pronunciation tips, interesting vocabulary, and fun language facts that offer a glimpse into Hungarian culture. Whether your goal is to speak a few phrases during your next visit to Hungary or simply better understand your family’s heritage, we hope you will enjoy learning alongside us.
A newsletter created for our community
This new format was inspired by the questions we receive every day. Many people ask us where to begin researching their family history. Others want to understand why their ancestors left Hungary, what life was like during different historical periods, or how to pronounce the Hungarian names found in old family documents. These conversations reminded us that our readers are looking for more than answers to citizenship questions – they are looking for a deeper connection with their heritage.
We hope this newsletter becomes a place where curiosity is encouraged, stories are shared, and learning about Hungary becomes an enjoyable experience.
