Old family unification based permanent residence permits expire soon

Do you have Hungarian permanent residency based on family unification? Check what kind of card you have. If you have the old, laminated card that was issued between August 3, 2016 and August 2, 2021, instead of the newer, plastic one, it will expire as of August 3, 2026. Other permits remain valid.

How to get married in Hungary as a foreigner

You and your partner can get married in Hungary if both of you are legally competent adults (above 18). You will need a civil ceremony with a representative of the registrar’s office as the officiant; having a religious ceremony is optional. The process is more or less the same for Hungarian and foreign couples, although it takes longer for foreigners because they will need additional documents to prove there are no legal obstacles to the marriage.
