What documents are required for company formation in Hungary?
Opening a company in Hungary is fast and easy. There are no restrictions on nationality, so any individual of any nationality can open a limited liability company. This way, you can become the owner of a brand new Hungarian company no matter what passport you carry.
Just bring your passport
That’s right: your passport is the only document you need to bring. For nationals of many European countries, an ID card might be enough. However, be sure to check with us in advance if this applies to you.
Some countries require a background check for company incorporation, where you need to provide a tax certificate, a bank statement or proof of qualifications from back home. Fortunately, none of that is needed in Hungary: you only need proof of identity.
It is also common to require that foreign businessmen have a local partner in their company. Happily, Hungary has no such requirement, so you can be the sole owner and/or manager of your Hungarian company. You can make all business decisions yourself and run your company according to your vision. Naturally, you will still need to make sure you comply with relevant laws and regulations, and we are here to help you with that.
Easy as 1-2-3
Your Hungarian company will be incorporated and fully functional within 4-5 business days after submitting the paperwork. Our lawyers will prepare all necessary documents for you, including the articles of association. You can sign these in person when you visit us in Budapest, or you can send us a certified Power of Attorney. This way, the company can be incorporated in your absence. The only time you need to make a trip to Hungary in person is to open a company bank account. However, with our help, this should take no more than a day of your time. We even provide an English-speaking assistant to accompany you to the bank to make sure everything goes smoothly.
Best of all, you will get an EU VAT number automatically and immediately. Plus, you will benefit from the lowest corporate tax rate in Europe, just 9%. Considering Hungary’s central location within Europe, its Schengen zone membership and the low cost of living, it is easy to see why the country has become one of the top picks for incorporating a company in Europe.
