The new Hungarian golden visa program is being debated in Parliament

The new bill about the introduction of another Hungarian golden visa program is currently being debated in Parliament. Below you can find a summary of the opening address.

About the new golden visa bill

In the address about the proposal, the first speaker MP noted that investment residency is currently available in Hungary, probably meaning the real estate residence permit. He also emphasized that several EU member states have golden visa programs. In these countries, investment purposes typically include real estate or financial instruments, while in some cases public institutions are also supported by such investments. Investment amounts also vary between EUR 60,000 and EUR 1.2 million.

He also emphasized that guest investor residency is in line with EU regulations as the application process involves various types of background check to avoid risks to national security, while the financial background of investors is also scrutinized.

It was also pointed out that while the Hungarian golden visa program will grant residency for ten years, which is hoped to make the program especially attractive among investors.

The debate is still going on.
